Safe dating tips

At Zuza, we do everything we can to create a safe basis. Zuza is unique because each member has had a personal video intake with a Dating Guide. However, your personal safety and comfort will always be our number one priority.

Phase 1: Before the date

Get to know each other via a phone or video call on Zuza

Use the secure Zuza phone or video call feature for your first actual conversation and never feel pressured to share contact information with each other. After your first real conversation, you can send messages to each other on Zuza.

Meet up in real life? Choose a public, familiar place

For a first (and possibly second) date, always meet in a public place, such as a cozy café, a restaurant or a busy walking park. It is better not to meet up at someone's home or in a remote place.

Inform your “supporters”

Always let a friend, girlfriend, or family member know who you've met with, where you're going, and approximately what time you expect to be home.

Phase 2: During the date

Arrange your own transportation

MMake sure you arrange your own transportation to and from the first meeting. Avoid being picked up or dropped off. This keeps your home address private and gives you the freedom to leave whenever you want.

Keep private information private in the beginning

On a first date, you don't have to share exactly which company you work for, exactly where you live or what school your children attend. First, find out if there is a genuine click; details will follow later.

Watch your stuff (and your drink)

A classic but important tip: don't leave your phone, bag, or jacket with valuables unattended when you go to the toilet, and keep an eye on your drink.

Always trust your gut feeling

Your boundaries are leading. Does a conversation not feel good, or are you uncomfortable with the situation? You don't owe anything to anyone. It's totally okay to call off a date prematurely and go home.

Phase 3: After the date

No click? End it politely

Safety is also about emotional safety. Was there no click? Then be honest and polite about that via a short message. Be respectful to each other; 'ghosting' (suddenly ignoring someone) has no place on our platform.

Share your experience with your Dating Guide

A safe community is something we build together. Has a match behaved inappropriately, crossed your boundaries, or failed to comply with the Zuza Code?

Always report this directly to your Dating Guide or via support@zuza.nl. We investigate this discreetly and take action where necessary.
